Blaydon Afterschool Club & Pre-school

Affterschool & Breakfast Clubs

Afterschool Club.

This year has been a lot quieter than the last few years both in after school and holiday care, due largely to the down turn in the economy however we are looking forward to September when we are expecting a very healthy intake of children from all three schools that we pick up from. Over the past 15 years that we have operated we have set ourselves a high standard of a good quality childcare service this we aim to maintain. The other big talking point from parents and children is of course about the new club we will be getting. Some parents took their children to see the plans when they were displayed in the Library. The response from the children was they were very excited. They loved the idea that they will be able to just open the doors and enter the outside playing area however they thought that the building work should have started straight away when the old swimming bath site was demolished!

Stella School Breakfast Club

It has been yet another busy year at breakfast club. This year we have had a lot of new children attending which bodes well for the future. The relationship with the school has grown with two of our workers also working at school as dinner nannies. Our workers have also helped out at the school fete and by helping to take children to the Christmas pantomime. This is our fifth term at the school and we hope that we will continue for many years to come.

Blaydon Pre-school

Blaydon Preschool:

The Pre-School has been running now since April 2010 and is showing gradual progression but we are still working hard to promote our sessions by handing out leaflets in the precinct, local shops, doctors and dentists. We now have 12 children on the register and new parents are hearing about us by word of mouth or spotting our sign outside the Centre. The Pre-School is full one morning per week and we are gradually building up numbers on other days and we will be open 5 mornings from September. We work closely with Gateshead Early Years, SEN, Social Services and have approached local schools offering them links. We have developed a good relationship with our parents by keeping them up to date on their child’s progress through news letters, photographs and children’s personal files, We contacted Gateshead Council Highways department and now have regular visits from the Road Safety Officer, extending the children’s knowledge through fun filled activities in Road Safety and Danger awareness. The local environment offers good learning outcomes for the children’s education such as walks to the duck pond, feeding the ducks and looking at the natural environment, finding and naming insects, listening to different sounds around us extending knowledge and understanding of the world. Blaydon Library offer free story time and we use the treasure chests to help with our termly themes, covering all areas of the EYFS.

Session Times and Costs: Term Time Mon - Fri £8.50 per session
